Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Government will spend Rs140 crore for providing infrastructure facilities and computer equipment to 4,530 digital libraries in the first phase.
During a review meeting held at Tadepalli near Vijayawada, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials to take measures to strengthen work from home concept and said the government has been taking steps to provide high-speed internet in all the villages.
He reviewed initiatives of IT department on digital libraries and said digital libraries should be useful to graduate students along with primary and secondary education.
Reddy said the officials should take measures to provide uninterrupted internet facility to Village Secretariats and Rytu Bharosa Kendras. He said the construction of 4,530 digital libraries will start in the first phase on August 15.
IT Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy, Elections and Communications Principal Secretary G Jaya Lakshmi, Energy Secretary N. Srikanth, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Commissioner Girija Shankar, APSFL MD M Madhusudan Reddy, AP Technical Services MD M Nanda Kishore and others were present.
